DAY 1:
This tour leaves from the top of the hill at 8:30 am. The bus will take you straight to Santa Teresa, where we will stop for some lunch. The group will continue driving to the Hydroelectric power plant where the driving portion of the tour will end. From the Hydroelectric power plant there is no road to reach Aguas Calientes and the road to Machu Picchu. A 3-4 hour flat walk along the train tracks and the group will arrive in Aguas Calientes between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. It is possible to take a train from the Hydro plant to Aguas Calientes for US$14 but it does not depart until 6:00 pm (so travelers would have to wait for around 2 hours at the Hydro plant). Loki Travel will provide you with detailed info and a map from the Hydro to your Hostel in Aguas Calientes, it will be up to you to find the Hostel. After an hour to clean up and relax the group will have dinner at the hostel between 8:00 and 8:30pm followed by a briefing with the guide about the specifics of your visit to Machu Picchu. An early bedtime is recommended to prepare for an unforgettable experience the following day.
DAY 2:
Travelers should be awake early (5 am) to make their ascent up to Machu Picchu. There are several options and time frames that travelers have depending on their schedule and preferences. From Aguas Calientes it is a 1.5 to 2 hour walk (4 km, mostly stairs and fairly steep) to reach the entrance of the ruins. There is a bus available for US$10 that will take travelers to the entrance in 20 minutes. A 2.5 hour guided tour of the citadel is included with the tour. Coordinate with your guide the night before (at dinner) what time the tour will be. After the tour it is possible to do either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain additional hikes. Travelers MUST be back at the Hydroelectric power plant by 5:00 pm AT THE LATEST! If this time window is missed you will be responsible for purchasing transportation back to Santa Teresa. From the Hydroelectric power plant you will be taken to Santa Teresa where you will be picked up and taken to your hostel accommodation. Dinner will be around 7:30 or 8:00pm
DAY 3:
At 700 am the tour will join other loki travelers for an exclusive zip line tour. After the zipline the group will reform for breakfast at a local restaurant. After breakfast the group will walk to the Santa Teresa hot springs for a few hours to soak and relax. Guests not going on the zipline tour have the option to eat breakfast earlier and find their own way to the hot springs if they desire.
