Choquequirao Trek to Machu Picchu 9D/8N

DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA CHIQUISKA

Early in the morning we take a panoramic trip of about four hours to the town of Cachorra where we are with our carriers. We began our hike of about two hours towards the Abra de Kapuliyoq (2800 m) where we have the astonishing sight of the deep valley of the Apurimac River and the snowy peaks around. A decrease of about 3 hours brings us to our first camp in Chiquiska (1800 m).

DAY 2: CHIQUISKA CHOQUEQUIRAO

After breakfast we start our descent, enjoying beautiful views of the Apurimac Canyon up to 1495 m where we passed the hanging bridge over the Apurimac River. From there it takes us a long, hard climb of about five hours to our destination: the beautiful archaeological site of Choquequirao. We arrived just in time to enjoy the incredible sunset over the snowy peaks before a delicious dinner and a well-earned rest in our camp (3000 m). Today we visited the restored and explore the newly discovered sites are being excavated and restored by COPESCO. After lunch we have an optional visit to the Casa Cascada (about 300 m below Choquequirao) and spent an entertaining evening with a barbecue (typical Andean food made in an earth oven). From the highest point: The Usno appreciate again the magnificent sunset over the canyon of the Apurimac.

DAY 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO – PINCHAUNUYUC

After the tour of Choquequirao and lunch we began our walk, after a short climb leads to the opening of where we enjoy a different view of Choquequirao and beautiful deep canyon of the Apurimac. In a short descent we reach the archaeological remains of Pinchaunuyoc, where camp yet covered by vegetation.

DIA 4: PINCHAUNUYUC MAIZAL

After visiting the site continue down the White River where we can refresh at lunch. In the afternoon continue to rise for four hours to our camp where we will Maizal camp.

DIA 5: MAIZAL – YANAMA

After breakfast ascend the Victoria Open entering the Inca Trail. After lunch we continued our descent, passing several abandoned silver mines, up to the village where we camp tonight Yanama. Dia 6: YANAMA – TOTORA The route today is in the midst of Nevados, bringing the Yanama open, where we had lunch. In the afternoon we began our long descent of about 6 hours to the jungle and our beautiful camp in Totor.

DIA 7: TOTORA PLAYA

This morning we left very early, descending Munay jungle until shortly where we will have lunch and then arrive at this place called Playa, where we camp.

DIA 8: PLAYA – LLACTAPATA – AGUAS CALIENTES

Cross the river to the right side to ascend through for a coffee to her viewpoint from where we can see Machu Picchu from a unique angle for Llactapata where we appreciate a variety of birds and will visit the archaeological site. A two hour descent brings us to the hydroelectric station train to Aguas Calientes where there are hot springs.

DIA 9: AGUAS CLAIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

This day is dedicated only to visit the archaeological wonder of Machu Picchu and afternoon water go down the people to take the train back to Cusco.
